How To Start and Launch Your Own Social Media Management Business
You love social media, right? You’re always on Instagram, Tik Tok, and even your friends are in awe by the way you post on your accounts. If you’re thinking it’s time to start a social media management business, you’re in the right place! Use this as your road map for starting and launching you very own social media management business!
1. Brand Foundations
We need to begin with the basics! Your very own brand! Granted, you likely love social media and have a knack for understand different brands, but it is so crucial to identify your very own brand story. It’s time to uncover your mission, your legacy, and do the brand discovery! Ask yourself these questions:
- Why am I different? What can I bring to this that stands out
- What kind of businesses do I thrive on working with and that light me up?
- What is my why and what experience do I have that helps me to gain insight into this subject?
You gotta discover your secret sauce. Like working with beauty brands? Go for it! Are you insanely skilled at video editing for Tik Tok? Try it out!
2. Brand Identity & Marketing
Your visual identity must showcase your values, brand ethos, and brand personality. Think of Rare Beauty vs Mac Cosmetics -– different brand personalities, here! If you’re not speaking to that specific clientele you’re going to have a hard time landing perfect fit clients. Equally important – is this brand personality a true reflection of you?
For example, GG & CO is feminine meets street style at Paris Fashion Week. Do you instantly get a sense of the imagery? You get a sense of this because everything that we do at GG & CO is aligned to this brand personality. The colours, the mood, the visuals.
To do: Create a knockout branding kit, visual identity guide, and consider custom templates. You don’t need to go wild with creating a website right away. 3. Packages & Pricing

4. Develop Client Experience & Implement Systems
As a social media manager your client experience is going to do so much for your business! Your clients will truly shout your name off the rooftop and send referrals your way! It will also help you to extend the lifetime client value (meaning your clients won’t want to leave) and position you as a sought after SMM (that’s social media manager).
